Початок дев'яностих очима Бертін ван Манен

Перш ніж випустити свою першу книгу A Hundred Summers A Hundred Winters, Бертін ван Манен проїхала по всій території колишнього СРСР і фотографувала повсякденне життя людей більше трьох років. "Подорожувати в той час з дорогими Leica і Nikon було небезпечно, - розповідає вона. - Вони вважали мої камери іграшками ... і не боялися їх, вважали мене туристкою або подругою, яка просто любила фотографувати".

Те, що на перший погляд може здатися грубими помилками і недоліком якості в знімках (засвічені краю, неточна фокусування або засвітка від спалаху), насправді дає уявлення про бажання Манен схопити момент, відобразити, не упустити те, що відбувається перед нею.
